The challenge…
Race Across Scotland 215mile Ultra-Marathon, 9th August 2025.
I feel as though an opportunity was missed with my last event to try and raise some money for a worthwhile cause. Well, this is an opportunity to go one better. On the 9th August 2025, I will be on the start line for GB Ultras: Race Across Scotland. A 215mile (346km) Ultra Marathon crossing the Scottish Southern Uplands. Starting at Portpatrick (West Coast), and concluding in Cove (East Coast). This is one of the longest Ultra’s in the UK’s race calendar…
Now for anyone that knows me, I love sport. For YEARS I have been a huge rugby fan, and love stepping onto the pitch. Over the past couple of years, I have taken a step back whilst I focus on my career. However, the love and bug for running has increased. The main reason I run is to keep my head level and clear from all the daily stressors/experiences. Like most males, I very rarely open my mouth to get my problems off my chest, however, I use exercise and other outlets to help me. For some, outlets like this aren’t as easily identifiable. I know far too many people who struggle to unload their problems and share the burden. Both my colleagues and friends have been a victim of this. Therefore, I am choosing to raise money for Loose Heads, a mental health charity with that rugby initiative.
Me and Chris (Sapec) started Alpine Bears RC as a club to get people up and running. Helping people get fit, but also an opportunity to unwind and network new friends. It’s time to spread the word that people, particularly gentlemen, can shout out when it’s needed. Whether you’re sporty or not!
Now this race and opportunity wouldn’t be possible without 3 fantastic companies who have sponsored my entry;
- Volt Gym, Burscough.
- Polyroof.
The generosity from these businesses is incredible and HUGELY appreciated. Time to hold-up my side of the bargain, raise a substantial amount of money for LooseHeadz mental health support, and (hopefully) get this race boxed off.
Roll on August 🫡🐻
